India’s infrastructure transformation continues to accelerate as Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced and inaugurated a massive range of development projects across Gujarat worth more than ₹77,000 crore. Spanning sectors such as railways, manufacturing, power infrastructure, urban development, and housing, the initiative marks one of the largest single-state infrastructure pushes in India’s history.
The projects cover key cities including Dahod, Bhuj, and Gandhinagar, strengthening Gujarat’s position as one of India’s most important industrial and economic hubs. These initiatives reflect the government’s larger vision of building world-class infrastructure to support long-term economic growth and modernization.
One of the most significant highlights of the infrastructure plan is the advanced Locomotive Manufacturing Plant in Dahod developed by Indian Railways. The facility is designed to manufacture powerful 9000 HP electric locomotives, showcasing India’s growing capabilities in modern railway manufacturing and industrial innovation. More importantly, the plant symbolizes the success of the “Make in India” initiative by promoting domestic manufacturing and reducing dependence on imports.
In addition to railway development, the infrastructure package includes major investments in urban expansion, power infrastructure upgrades, and affordable housing projects aimed at improving quality of life and strengthening economic connectivity across the region.
The timing of the announcement also carries symbolic significance as it coincides with the completion of 12 years of Narendra Modi’s tenure as Prime Minister of India. Gujarat, often regarded as a model for industrial growth and governance, continues to play a central role in India’s broader development narrative.
Infrastructure development remains one of the strongest drivers of India’s economic transformation. Better roads, modern transportation systems, manufacturing facilities, and urban infrastructure not only create jobs but also improve productivity, investment opportunities, and overall national competitiveness.
The ₹77,000 crore Gujarat initiative is more than just a collection of projects — it reflects India’s larger ambition to become a modern, globally competitive economy built on strong infrastructure foundations.
